Who is my advisor?

  1. Log in to myNSCC.
  2. Select the Advising Resources tab.
  3. In the Academic Profile content box, your primary academic advisor will be listed at the bottom left under Advisors.

Note: If you are a current student and do not have an advisor, contact our Records office at 615-353-3218 or Admissions at 615-353-3215.

When do I meet with my advisor? At least once a semester

I have a hold.  How do I check what the hold is? You can look at your hold on your MyNscc account.

Do I really need a photo ID? Get a photo identification card (Photo ID) for library privileges,   admittance to some college-sponsored activities, student elections, use of the exercise facility, and other college services. For Fall 2020, you will need to make an appointment to get your ID.

What is the catalog and how can it help me? The Nashville State Community College Catalog is one of the most useful tools we offer for students and faculty alike. It includes all the nitty-gritty details that you need to know for every degree and certificate program we offer. You’ll find all the courses for each program as well as the requirements you need to fulfill in order to graduate or transfer. There’s also registration and financial aid information so you have everything in one spot.

What is the student handbook and why do I need it? Become oriented to the college community with the help of the Student Policy Handbook. Ensure a successful educational experience at Nashville State by becoming familiar with and adhering to all policies and procedures

How can changing my major impact graduation? It may delay your graduation depending on which credits transferred and will work towards your new degree.

Where do I change my major? The change of major form is available online.

When do I change my major? Due to new requirements for financial aid, you may only change your major in the period after a semester ends and before the next semester begins.

What should I do if I want to drop a class? Meet with your Faculty Advisor, an instructor or a staff member in the Admissions, Financial Aid, or Records office first!

Is there anything fun to do around here??? How do I make new friends? Student Organizations! Become involved with Nashville State outside of the classroom. Participate in community service activities, gain knowledge from outside speakers, and participate in the enhancement and visibility of the college. Student organizations focus on honors, social, academics or student government. They participate in the Student Life Council, which is made up of student leaders and faculty advisors from the different organizations.

How often do I have to do the FAFSA? The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the only application you need to be considered for federal and state grants and scholarships. You must submit a new FAFSA each year. This is available on October 1st! To apply, click on the link below and indicate Nashville State as a school to receive the results. https://studentaid.gov/ Nashville State School Code: 007534

What do I do when it’s time to graduate? In the semester prior to your last, you will need to fill out the Intent to Graduate Form which is available online.
