Obtaining Rights & Permissions

  1. Determine if permission is needed.
  2. Identify the owner.
  3. Identify the rights needed.
  4. Contact the owner and negotiate whether payment is required.
  5. Get your permission agreement in writing.

Images in Social Media

Images in social media have an implied license. For example, by creating a page you give an implied license for others to view and download. Implied license does not mean you can copy page. In the case of  Facebook, you can share a photo through the "share" feature, but could not sell a photo found on social media.
