Researching an Argument

This guide will help you research and find evidence to support an argument. Students writing an argumentative essay or creating a persuasive speech will find this guide useful.

Good Arguments

Welcome to "Researching an Argument."

Much of the content in this subject guide was created by Jody Segal at Green River Community College and is used with permission.

Formulating a well-supported argument takes work. Good arguments are supported by evidence, and finding evidence means doing some research.

This guide will help you select a good topic, find background information on your topic, examine the existing argument around your topic, and find evidence (from books, articles, websites, and statistics) to support your argument.
