Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art

Once the family home of Mabel and Leslie Cheek, this extraordinary 1930s estate located near Bellevue, TN, with its historic mansion and 55 acres of cultivated gardens and expansive vistas, today serves the public as a botanic garden, arboretum, and museum. The Cheekwood Collections encompass the Cheek family collection and archival materials, as well as paintings, works on paper, sculpture, decorative arts, and niche collections amassed since the opening of Cheekwood to the public in 1960. Cheekwood also offers a unique environment in which to experience outdoor contemporary sculpture.

Tennessee State Museum

Find art, history, and culture at one of the largest museums in the nation, the Tennessee State Museum. Interpretive exhibits begin 15,000 years ago with prehistoric people and continue through the early 1900s, with special displays of furniture, silver, weapons, quilts, and paintings.  There is no admission charge to museum exhibits. Occasionally, the museum charges admission to special temporary exhibits.

The Parthenon

The Parthenon stands proudly as the centerpiece of Centennial Park, Nashville's premier urban park.  Since the 1930s, the Parthenon has continued to host changing art exhibitions in its galleries and to educate both Nashvillians and visitors about the legacy of the ancient Greeks and their impact on American civilization. The focus of the Parthenon's permanent collection is a group of 63 paintings by 19th and 20th-century American artists donated by James M. Cowan. Additional gallery spaces provide a venue for a variety of temporary shows and exhibits.
